Pull up a chair and take a seat, it’s story time. Captivating tales of mythical creatures and monsters have become a part of American folklore, with each story more different and intriguing than the last. These myths have been passed down generation after generation, spoken around campfires, repeated over and over as old wives’ tales. They’ve lulled children to sleep as bedtime stories and lingered on as urban legends.

Every region has its own local lore, just as every region has its own favorite beer. You never know what creature or brew you’ll encounter unexpectedly. However, if you’re at all like us adventurous folk, you might want to go out searching just to see for yourself. Our team has found a few stories worth telling and beers worth sharing, so get ready for an adventure. Oh, and make sure to grab a drink, because every good story starts with a beer. For thousands of years, fishermen have reported sightings of a giant squid. Once thought to be a myth, this rare creature of the Pacific has resurfaced once again. Behold The Red Devil, a red ale by our friends Alpine Beer Company in Alpine, CA. Dive right into this garnet-colored beer with notes of grapefruit, toasted coconut, toffee and cherry rhubarb.

Next, we bring you, Wishpoosh Wheat, a refreshing wheat ale made with real lemons. The team at Belching Beaver Brewery in San Diego, CA, created a beer that remembers the great battle between Wishpoosh and Coyote. This light-bodied, easy-drinking brew is perfect for enjoying outdoors, sitting by the lake or floating on the river. Keep a close eye on your brew though; Wishpoosh might want a sip for himself.

Clocking in at over 700 years old, the Grodziskie ale is almost a myth in its own right. Known for its distinct smokiness, it only gets better with each sip. We give you The Windsor Wendigo by Barrel Brothers Brewing Company in Windsor, CA. This brew gets more powerful with age, much like the legendary Wendigo, a wicked human-like beast said to eternally roam the lands.

One dark and foggy night, the team at Noon Whistle Brewing Co. in Lombard, IL, went out and searched for a mysterious creature that roams the wetlands of Illinois—the Tuttle Bottoms Monster. Instead, they found a smooth and creamy, black IPA called Tuttle Bottom, a majestic midnight dark beer with citrus and roasted chocolate aromatics.
